Metal Gear fans were recently put on high alert when the official Metal Gear Solid Facebook page posted a picture that advertised a Metal Gear Solid 1984 Collection. The picture was uploaded without context and fans were left speculating on what this collection could be.
Some fans wondered if it might be a re-release of the old Metal Gear games on the new-gen systems, others speculated it might be DLC for Ground Zeroes or The Phantom Pain. Konami Europe then added fuel to the fire by posting the following Tweet:
Step back into the 80's with our new MGS collection coming very soon!
Stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/ZHKfXxHwtl

After much speculation, it has finally been revealed to IGN by Konami that the 1984 Collection isn’t in fact a game, it’s a clothing line. That’s right, it all ties in with the Metal Gear Solid clothing line that was first announced back in September 2014. No doubt many fans will be disappointed that it’s not a new game or re-master but at least we still have Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to look forward to.
No doubt the 1984 Collection clothing line will take much inspiration from 80’s fashion as well as clothing items seen in The Phantom Pain which is set in 1984.
