Jason Voorhees Coming to Mortal Kombat X

Voorhees is bringing the pain to MKX!

Today, Warner Bros. released a new gameplay trailer for Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees, who will join the Mortal Kombat X roster from tomorrow, May 5th.

The gameplay trailer found below gives fans a sneak peak of the move set they will be using to unleash pain on their enemies. Voorhees, as you might expect, is a bit of a powerhouse with his strength and notorious blade being his weapons of choice to brutally end his opponent. Check out the trailer to see what other tricks Jason has up his sleeves.

If you’re after Voorhees, he will be available as part of the Jason Voorhees bundle which includes the masked murderer himself, as well as three horror-themed skins that form the Horror Pack. For those fans who picked up the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack, you’ll be able to pick this DLC drop tomorrow. For everyone else, the bundle will be available as of the 12th May for $8.

The three horror-themed skins are:

  • Vampiress Mileena,
  • Kraken Reptile
  • Pharaoh Ermac

For those of you who are after either Jason Voorhees or just the Horror Pack, you’ll be able to get these two parts separately as of May 12th. Voorhees will be available for $5, while the Horror Pack will set you back $4.

The response on Neogaf has been somewhat mixed, with some fans receiving the announcement with excitement, others seem a little less happy. While season pass owners (or Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack) will receive Voorhees tomorrow, his availability to everyone else a week later for $5 seems to have upset some fans.

NeoGaf users PistonHyundai said:

“Wait, so they’re taking advantage of this being the only DLC that a lot of people are going to give a shit about by selling it separately at a later date?”

Whilst some fans are upset, Voorhees and the Horror Pack does follow the one week exclusivity model that Warner Bros. are following with DLC drops coming to the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack.

What do you think of the inclusion of Voorhees? Do you have any issues with his availability to everyone after a week, or do you think it would be unfair to make players wait longer for the most anticipated DLC drop? Let us know in the comments below.
