CD Projekt RED is set to release The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in only a few days and fans everywhere are sharpening their silver swords and readying their potions. Reviews have been coming out for the game and so far they’ve all been very positive. It seems the game really is living up to its ambition.
One criticism that some reviewers have pointed out is the game apparently doesn’t run as smoothly or look quite as good as it did in many of the early gameplay videos. Given the vast nature of the game, it’s no surprise that there are some bugs present and it’s also worth noting that review copies of the game have all been for the PS4, not the PC.
However, given that recent games haven’t lived up to their promises, some gamers are wondering if CD Projekt RED did downgrade the game. To these rumors, CD Projekt RED’s Community Manager Marcin Momot posted a statement on the official CD Projekt RED forum which reads:
“Ok guys, I believe a word of clarification is required. These are just rumors, and as we’ve said before we don’t comment on such. Secondly you have to remember that our game is a big release – a lot of people have been anticipating it and quite a few would like to gain some publicity from it even when it means talking about things which are not true. Wild Hunt comes out in a few days and you will be able to find out for yourself if the game is up to your standards. We believe so – we’ve worked really hard for 3 years to deliver you best possible experience – we love The Witcher as much as you do. To conclude we’d rather have you focus on the game and the fact that it’s going to be in your hand in a matter of days. And one more thing – whenever we say something officially, we always put a person behind it.”
Regardless of whether the game is downgraded, it has still been getting very high scores from major publications and it still looks fantastic. As for the bugs, there will be a day one patch on release day to help things run smoother and CD Projekt RED will no doubt keep patching the game if further problems arise.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due to be released on May 19th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
