Super Smash Bros. 4 Rayman Leak Is A Hoax

If you’ve been listening to the recent Super Smash Bros. 4 rumors, you may have heard that there was official video footage confirming that Rayman will be a playable character in Nintendo’s latest addition to the Super Smash Bros. series. Without a doubt, the footage is convincing to the point of belief. If you’re among the people who were fooled by this recent troll, don’t feel too bad. You aren’t alone. This was no ordinary, easily detectable photoshop hack job. This was the work of an artist. Or to be more specific, this was the work of the Youtube sensation, video game artist, graphic designer, and illustrator, Artsy Omni.

Earlier today, Artsy Omni released this footage walking us through the exact steps he took to create the Super Smash Bros. 4 Rayman leak. So unless this is some sort of hoaxception where the video confirming the hoax is but a hoax within a hoax, then I think it’s safe to say that Rayman won’t be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. Understandably so, Artsy Omni is receiving a lot of negative feedback from people who’s hopes he raised and dashed. The level of aggression ranges from death threats to mild displeasure. But Youtube user DLN-066 Tornado man captures the middle ground of it:

You are an idiot . Dude you don’t go and do that not only do you loose respect from the smash community but also from millions of fans who will never forget this overall not a wise choice and at a time where it’s hyped up in such people will rightful get mad at you and quite possible send things like death treats , or curse you out .  The choice you did making a fake leak look so real  is overall disrespectful to a worldwide fan base  . Basically you middle fingered the smash community

Not everyone is upset about the Super Smash Bros. 4 hoax, however. Many are impressed by the level of authenticity he was able to reach with his troll. Youtube user Sunder commented, “This totally inspires me to not only get better with Photoshop but also to learn AfterEffects and expand my skillset. Great work on this, love the attention to detail :).”Youtube user I Agree has similar sentiments, saying, “Slow clap Nicely done, I love it and you deserve all the praise… Also is the reason you deleted the video to make it more legit? If so damn dude you thought of everything.”

On his Facbook page, Artsy Omni seems caught off guard by a lot of the negative feedback he is receiving. He says, “So I just want to officially say I’m really sorry for dashing people’s hopes. I didn’t see all of this coming. o_o.” Well, at least he’s sorry. But it’s up to you whether you want to forgive him, hate him, or admire him. You can also check out this exclusive Game Informer interview with Artsy Omni in which he explains his reasoning and motives for creating the leak: “I just wanted to get my channel in front of the eyes of the Smash community so that I could have an open dialogue for suggestions for future art I do. I had no idea it would spread this far.”. Let us know how you feel about this troll in the comments.
