A spiritual successor to the beloved Banjo-Kazooie platformer is in development by a new UK-based studio named Playtonic Games. This studio is formed entirely out of veteran Rare developers.
Codenamed “Project Ukelele,” the devloper describers the platformer as a “worth spiritual successor to those fondly remembered platforming adventures we built in the past,” and is built by “some of the core team behind Banjo-Kazooie.”
Other talent on the team includes “the bloke who programmed Donkey Kong Country, the character designer behind Banjo and Kazooie, the artist who made your console fit to burst with lavish environments across a decade’s worth of adventure games,” the developer reveals.
This game is happening and currently in the February issue of Edge Magazine.
More information about “Project Ukelele” will be revealed in the coming months. For now, lets take the chance to relish in memories of platforming goodness and see what the future holds for this spiritual successor.
