While there is some degree of auto-saving in No Man’s Sky, you can’t just save your game anywhere. Players need to find special antenna’s near planetary outposts to truly save their game, which isn’t great news considering how massive (and deadly) the universe can be.
On top of the limited and far-apart save points, players can only have one manual save slot. To make things even harder, loading up an old save will kill you. Switching to an old file decimates your character where it stands, dropping all of your loot at your grave. You’ll have to return to that spot to collect your items and continue your adventure.
