The Game Awards 2014 were a success. They showed that it is possible to have an award ceremony consisting almost entirely of the industry and fans in a pretty classy fashion. It moved at a steady pace and awarded truly great games and advancements. On top of it all, it was entertaining although not in an “in-your-face” type of way, which was quite amazing.
It was the inaugural event of what many hope will be a continuing tradition, so it is no surprise that there were a few misses among the many hits of the evening. The Game Awards were about celebrating creativity and contributions by the best the gaming industry has to offer. While there were admittedly few offenses, they seemed to be very out of touch with the main theme of the night.
