World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, the 5th expansion for Blizzard’s genre-changing MMO was released last week to an eager crowd. In spite of a rocky launch, plenty of players are enjoying their time with the latest content and it looks like a good chunk of WoW veterans decided to renew their subscriptions and explore Draenor. According to a report by Blizzard, World of Warcraft subscriptions are back over 10 million for the first time since 2012.
World of Warcraft had been seeing a steady but apparent decline in subscriptions prior to WoD. In July, WoW subscriptions were at a low of 6.8 million subscribers. October saw a significant increase up to 7.4 million subscribers in anticipation of WoD’s release. Perhaps people who played the game years ago and were considering diving back in were enticed by the free boost to level 90 packed in with the expansion.
Do you think the WoW subscriptions will remain high for much longer? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
