The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still more than three months away, but that hasn’t stopped developer CD Projekt RED from announcing 16 DLC packs to accompany the main game.
And here’s the kicker: They’re all free.
Free? Yep. Free.
CD Projekt RED co-founder and CEO Marcin Iwinski announced the DLC in an open letter on the developer’s official website, bemoaning the nickle-and-diming most gamers face when it comes to DLC these days (horse armor anyone?).
“As CD PROJEKT RED, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work and, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we have decided to do it differently. Cutting to the chase, everyone who buys Wild Hunt will receive 16 specially prepared DLCs absolutely for free, regardless of platform. You don’t have to pre-order, you don’t have to buy any special edition to get them — if you own a copy of Wild Hunt, they’re yours. This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game.”
The first bundle, Temerian Armor (horse armor included) and beard and hairstyle sets, hit your download queue the day after the game’s release on Feb. 24. Going forward, two DLC packs will be released every week.
