It looks like anyone eagerly awaiting Far Cry 4, Assassin’s Creed Unity, or The Crew in the UK isn’t going to be able to access these titles via Valve’s digital distribution platform, Steam.
According to an Ubisoft representative who spoke to PCGamesN, “We’ve been in discussions with Valve about Assassin’s Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the UK,” they went on to mention that anyone interested in those games in the UK is going to have to use the Ubisoft’s Uplay client in order to download and play them. Any digital downloads will be accessed via Uplay but players can still buy the game from some of Ubisoft’s digital retail partners which include GreenManGaming and GamersGate.
As far as the convenience of Uplay vs. Steam, there is a substantial number of people who would rather have the opportunity to use Steam rather than Uplay. Hopefully Ubisoft expands distribution options in the future, but for now it’s looking like Uplay will be the sole option for UK players.
