In a recent interview with Famitsu, Square Enix company president, Yosuke Matsuda revealed the company was working on a new RPG. During the interview, he confirmed that the RPG would not be a remake. According to Matsuda, the game is to be revealed during December. Matsuda was very careful to state that the game was not a remake, leading to speculation that the game is based on a current franchise. Whether or not Square Enix plans on developing a new intellectual property has yet to be seen. All is speculation until the reveal in December.
But when in December? Speculation suggests the Square Enix reveal will happen at one of three events: Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards, Sony’s PlayStation Experience, and Jump Fiesta. The Game Awards will be held on December 5th on SpikeTV as the replacement to the VGX Awards. The PlayStation Experience will be held on December 6th and 7th, with Jump Fiesta finishing up the year on December 20th and 21st.
Matsuda goes on to say that the company still intends on developing plenty of games for consoles, smartphones, and PCs. Both for Japan and other markets.
