It seems a Korean game developers Smilegate want to give Blizzard a run for their money! Diablo III was launched back in 2012, and has since been relaunched on Xbox One and Playstation 4. The isometric action-rpg was had its fair share of controversies, but was all-in-all hailed as a critical success, retaining that look and feel that gamers loved so much in the early releases of the game.
Now Smilegate wants to enter into the fray of hack-and-slash gameplay with their announcement of Lost Ark Online, which is being billed as an MMO with what seems to be similar mechanics to its predecessors in the Diablo series. The launch trailer features a vibrant landscape and absolutely stunning artwork that has an exceptionally vibrant colour palette, countering the dark and macabre feel of Diablo.
The developers are reporting that the game has actually been in development for almost three years, and if the graphics are anything to show for it, it seems it was time well spent. The gameplay seems to be pretty impressive as well. Although it is always important to note that viewers should be skeptical of edited gameplay trailers, the game looks to feature dozens of on-screen enemies at a time, allowing for a great power fantasy of destroying wave upon wave of dangerous creatures. The game also features four classes: Fighter, Warrior, Magician, and Gunner, all no doubt offering a wide array of weapons and armors. The trailer also features the multiplayer functions, showing four players tearing throw their foes in tandem.
Lost Ark Online is preparing to enter beta as of early 2015, and you can sign up for it on the official website. Although you should probably be fluent in Korean, because there is no mention yet of an English translation.
