For almost a year now, Telltale Games fans have been eagerly awaiting information about their next big project; a series of games based on HBO’s Game of Thrones (which in turn are based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels). Finally, Telltale has revealed some information about its structure and how (and when) it fits into the overarching universe of Game of Thrones. According to their blog, you will be playing as five characters representing House Forrester, a family featured in A Dance of Dragons and allied to the Starks.
Playing as five characters not only reflects the epic scope of Game of Thrones, but is also something that the player needs to be mindful of. This is because the actions of one character can ripple out to affect the rest of House Forrester. Multiply the actions of one character by five, and you’re truly playing the Game of Thrones…where you win, or you die.
As with Telltale’s triumphant adaptation of The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones will focus on the consequences of the choices you make, which no doubt will lead to many unforeseen and unforgettable moments. We’ll all be getting our own chance to win or die soon when Game of Thrones comes to PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS, with additional platforms to be announced.
