State of Decay Sold 2 Million Copies With No Advertising

Between both Steam and Xbox Live Arcade, Undead Labs’ third person zombie survival game State of Decay sold over 2 million copies, according to a post on the developer’s webpage. The sales figures only include sales of the original game; DLC isn’t even counted here. This news comes in wake of the game’s impending Xbox One release, which will no doubt give a boost up to its user base when that version releases in early 2015.

State of Decay released originally for the Xbox 360 back in June of 2013. In that month, the game sold a total of 550,000 copies. It was then available briefly through Steam early access before it was released in full in November of that same year. In October of 2013, State of Decay hit the 1 million sales milestone.

“There just aren’t the right words to tell you how much this means to us,” said community manager Sanya Weathers, “No marketing, no advertising, just you playing and streaming and spreading the word. You made this happen, and if we could individually thank each person who hit that download button, we would.”
