During their E3 presentation earlier this year, Sony announced PlayStation Network’s upcoming push for original programming headlined by the comic-based series, Powers, which is like the best parts of Law & Order and Heroes put together. Yesterday at New York Comic Con, con-goers were treated to the show’s first trailer.
Powers will star Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Christian Walker and Susan Heyward (Mother of George,The Following) as Deena Pilgrim, who are detectives in charge of investigating superpower related crimes. Walker is a former “Power” who was given a badge after becoming just a normal human, and Pilgrim is his quick witted, no-nonsense partner.
I was already interested in the show, since the Powers comic has always been so great, but now excitement levels couldn’t be higher. Especially when the first few episodes are set to be directed by David Slade of Breaking Bad fame. Sharlto is an extremely talented actor, and steals the spotlight of whatever he is featured in. Powers will debut this December and will be free for PS+ members, however the first episode will be available to everybody, so you have no reason to not check this out when it debuts.
