The new 3DS and 3DS XL had a strong launch in Japan this past weekend.
The two new models moved a combined total of 233, 483 units. Not too shabby. In comparison, the original XL sold 235, 974 in a week’s time. The new XL outsold the standard new 3DS, selling 172,332. This is probably owing to the huge popularity of Monster Hunter in Japan, which the new XL was bundled with. The new standard model, which features changeable faceplates, sold 61,151.
The new models feature improved 3D range, faster processing speeds and additional buttons. This includes a new “C” button that serves as a second analogue control.
There’s no word just yet on when the new 3DS and 3DS XL models will be coming to Europe and North America.
