Jens Bergensten of Mojang confirmed earlier today via Twitter that Minecraft: Pocket Edition — the hugely popular mobile port of Minecraft — is in the works for Windows Phone.
According to Bergensten, “The port runs already, but there’s still much to do before any release.” He went on to mention that, although the announcement comes after Microsoft buying Mojang, “…. we’ve been working on a MC:PE Windows phone port for a while, already before MS bought Mojang,” in response to people tweeting their assumptions about the deal having had something to do with the announcement of the port.
Minecraft: Pocket Edition is currently available on Android and iOS. The PlayStation Vita version of Minecraft was released on October 11th and should be available online sometime tomorrow for North America and October 15th in Europe.
