Is Resident Evil Not Being Called ‘Biohazard’ in Japan Anymore?

Tokyo Game Show is well underway and Capcom showed off their upcoming Resident Evil game at Sony’s presentation, Resident Evil Revelations 2.

The episodic game starring Claire Redfield will be a sequel to Resident Evil Revelations which first appeared exclusively on the 3DS before getting an HD upgrade to the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. The interesting thing about this presentation was that the game was referred to as Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

For those of you who don’t know, the original Japanese title for the series was ‘Biohazard’ before being renamed ‘Resident Evil’ for western audiences. Since then each ‘Resident Evil’ game in the west was called ‘Biohazard’ in Japan all the way up to the previous Biohazard Revelations.

However, reports are coming in that all promotional material for their newest game is billed under the Resident Evil title which is incredibly weird in their native Japan. Perhaps this is all a big mistake or a transition to streamlining the Resident Evil title for all regions.
