For what seems like the last couple of years, at the very least since Chronicle was released, Josh Trank has been attached to Sony’s film adaptation of Team Ico’s Shadow of the Colossus, much to the horror of many fans of the game. Not really because of Mr. Trank, per se, but because of the fear of one of gaming’s most treasured titles getting butchered on the silver screen.
Today, however, Sony has announced via press release a big change in the project’s future; Andres Muschetti, director of the Guillermo del Toro produced horror film Mama, is replacing Josh Trank in the Colossus director chair, presumably because Trank will be wrapped up in Fox’s The Fantastic Four film series for the conceivable future. Writing the film will be Seth Lochhead, previously a writer on the thriller film Hanna.
The Shadow of the Colossus film has been in development since 2009, and has no confirmed release window.
