Demos and free trials are a great way to hook new players into games. They’ve come a long way from the magazine cover discs which used to festoon the walls of your local news agents thanks to the internet. When it comes to MMOs the most common way to show a game to new players is through a free-to-play model. However not every developer offers such pleasures to the world. If you’re interested in Guild Wars 2 though, your prospects for a taste of the game just got brighter.
ArenaNet and NCSoft are offering a free trial week running from 12AM PDT on September 25th 2014 to 11L59PM PDT October 1st 2014. This is open to players worldwide interested in trying the Guild Wars 2.
If you are interested you can create a free account now and download Guild Wars 2 ready for the trial week.
It isn’t quite the free trial offered by Blizzard’s World of Warcraft or a micro-transaction free to play system offered by ArcheAge but it does open the game up to new players.
Downloading Guild Wars 2 will take up somewhere around 25 Gigabytes of space on your hard drive and you’ll need NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI Radeon™ X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) along with 2 Gigabytes of RAM. In terms of processing power you’ll require an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon™64 X2 or better.
