As demos of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. 3DS rolls out this week, reports are coming in of an interesting feature tucked into the demo. There is a setting that allows you to connect your 3DS to your Wii U to be used as an alternative controller for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.
While most people purchasing the console version will most likely opt for the special Gamecube controller released for the game’s launch, those of you taken by the 3DS version’s controls will have yet another alternative to play with.
While I have yet to personally play the demo myself (I could have sworn I was a platinum member, but alas it wasn’t meant to be), I can’t imagine the control scheme on the 3DS to be overly complicated. In fact, with many pro-fighting players using PS1 controllers to win tournaments, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone uses the 3DS competitively.
This is just another aspect of the Wii U/3DS interconnectivity along with being able to send custom characters back-and-forth between the two systems.
