Those of you who have played any game in the Super Smash Bros. series will have fond memories of either triumphing or failing hilariously in the two extra modes aside from the standard fighting: Home Run Contest and Break the Targets. While these have always been a staple for the games, series creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed that a new mode is coming to Super Smash Bros. 4, a combination of the two aforementioned modes to form Target Blast.
Instead of the adorable Sandbag, Target Blast will have you recklessly attacking an active bomb set to blow on the count of 10. Once you’ve dished out enough damage, it’s time to launch it across to, well, this:
Similar to Angry Birds, the targets are encased in a fully destructible structure. While the bomb will be doing its own damage to any bombs in its way, it’s all about the chain reaction that will ensue as the structure topples depending on how hard and where you’ve managed to send the bomb flying.
Sakurai assures us that your score in Target Blast will also contribute to your Global Smash Power, just like the other modes. It’s always lovely to see all the stuff that’s getting packed into Super Smash Bros. 4 all the time. Unfortunately, we’ll just have to wait to see everything that’s under the hood. You can look forward to trying it all out yourself when Super Smash Bros. releases on Nintendo 3DS on October 3rd and on Nintendo Wii U this holiday season.
