SteamWorld Dig for Wii U Gets a Shiny New Release Date with Cross-Buy

As was previously announced, Image & Form Games’ SteamWorld Dig is indeed set to release on the Nintendo Wii U eShop after its success on the 3DS eShop, PlayStation Network, and Steam. For anyone who still hasn’t tried the game on any of the previous platforms, now would be as good a time as any to get in on this.

3DS owners of the game can also get a discount on the Wii U’s HD version of the game as a nice added bonus through a cross-buy promotion. Just as well, purchasing the Wii U version will also give you a discount on the 3DS version. Obviously, few may feel the need to own two copies, but it’s a nice promotion to upgrade to the Wii U version for improved visuals, GamePad functionality, and added Miiverse features.

You can get your copy of SteamWorld Dig on the Wii U eShop later this month when it arrives on August 28th in North America and Europe. Also, I’d like to add that I really dig this little trend of games with digging; there was Shovel Knight and now here’s SteamWorld Dig. More digging games, please. Dig.

UPDATE: Image & Form Games doesn’t have the cross buy promotion set in stone yet and is currently working out to get it going. We’ll update when news on the promotion is officially set.

UPDATE: The cross buy promotion has been confirmed to be available in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
