A few weeks ago we learned that the next Fatal Frame will be available on the Wii U in Japan later this year. The most recent installment in the beloved survival-horror franchise, Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, is scheduled for release September 27, coinciding with a live-action film adaptation simply titled Fatal Frame.
While we may never get our hands on Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, the good thing about the internet is that it’s likely we’ll eventually be able to stream a subbed version of the movie. You can check out the trailer for Fatal Frame above.
Honestly, I think it looks pretty good (read: scary), although I have to say the J-Pop and silly blood spatter effects cheapen the subtle, atmospheric horror that the franchise is known for doing so well. Fatal Frame will hit theaters September 26, and will most likely be available online shortly thereafter. Happy haunting!
