In a rather interesting turn of events, Tecmo Koei has confirmed that Hyrule Warriors will not support online co-op, only local couch co-op. What’s odd about this is that nearly every recent entry in the Dynasty Warriors series has received this treatment lately. While chances that there would be no online functionality looked pretty high, the official Nintendo page for the game revealed that there would be a special online mode for the game.
Specifically, translated, the page says it will contain a “special battle in adventure mode”. Maybe this means some sort of competitive Arena or something similar? Just as well, though, fans of co-operative play can be glad to hear that local co-op is still set to be featured in the game, complete with asymmetrical gameplay to do away with split-screen and give each player a whole screen to work with, the TV and the GamePad.
We’ll be sure to update you when more information on this new mode arises. Until then, you’ll just have to wait to see everything that Hyrule Warriors has in store when it finally arrives in North America on September 26th for the Nintendo Wii U.
