Halo: The Master Chief Collection Gamescom Showdown to Use LAN, XBL Connection Still Required

According to a series of tweets today by 343 Industries Franchise Media Manager Che Chou via Twitter, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be supporting LAN play on the Xbox One, but the system will need to connect to Xbox Live so the system can “say hi to Live”.

His tweets were in response to questions being raised about The Master Chief Collection’s LAN capabilities giving the upcoming event at Gamescom. Halo 2 Anniversary’s first 4v4 tournament will be taking place at Gamescom 2014 next week and will be played using custom games on LAN, according to Chou.

The Xbox One doesn’t support offline profiles as of yet, so this sort of check-in system being necessary in order to play LAN custom games makes sense given the circumstances.
