About a week ago, a trailer highlighting the stunning cinematics of the Halo 2 Anniversary remastering included in the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One was released to the web. The cinematics, created by Blur studios, looked absolutely stunning, and almost entirely faithful to the originals.
But, the question arose; how faithful were they? And just how drastic are the graphical differences 10 years on?
To that end, we have crafted an exact, shot-for-shot remake of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection cinematic trailer using the original Halo 2 cinematics. On the left are the originals, and we’ve painstakingly made sure that we were using the exact same cinematics as what was being depicted in the updated trailer on the right (unlike a couple of other places on the internet who did this). What you see is exactly how the graphics have changed, and which shots and angles Blur have changed from the originals. The differences, and the similarities, are quite striking.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection comes out on November 11 this year for Xbox One.
