EA Access Won't Require Xbox Live Gold Subscription

In a statement to IGN, EA has clarified that their EA Access service for Xbox One will not require an Xbox Live Gold Subscription. EA clarified:

When it launches, any Xbox One gamer can join EA Access and take advantage of the benefits of membership. In order to connect to multiplayer gameplay on the Xbox One platform, you will need a subscription to Xbox Gold.

This seems like a great compromise between having the service available to all Xbox gamers, while still allowing Gold subscribers to get the maximum bang for their buck. Unfortunately, PS4 gamers won’t be able to take advantage of the service since Sony doesn’t believe it offers “good value” and passed on it.

The EA Access service will cost $4.99 a month or $29.99 for a year’s subscription and is currently in beta, with the full release sometime “soon”.
