11 Minutes of Assassin's Creed Unity Gameplay Shown At Gamescom

A new batch of footage from Gamescom shows off 11 minutes of Assassin’s Creed Unity gameplay with commentary by Creative Director Alex Amancio.

This footage follows the protagonist Arno as he starts a mission to assassinate a Templar named Sivert. It seems to take place close to the beginning of the game since Arno is still relatively inexperienced as an Assassin and asks his mentor for advice. He is told to “devise his own plan”. The gameplay then shows a few options the player has to infiltrate the Notre Dame Cathedral in order to get to Sivert.

The mission, like all other assassinations in Unity, is explained to be a “black box mission”, where the player has more freedom than ever to fully plot out their tactics before attempting to take out the target. These missions are designed to allow players to customize their approaches, and give them a heightened sense of tactical planning.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.
