Brand new indie studio Variable State recently announced their first game Virginia, a “first-person interactive drama” set in early 90’s Virginia. You take on the role of a newly graduated FBI agent as she and her partner investigate the mysterious disappearance of a young boy in a small town filled with secrets, damn fine coffee, and the sweetest cherry pie.
Any of this sound familiar? If so, it’s okay; it’s all intentional. The developers have openly admitted that they take inspiration from popular 90’s dramas Twin Peaks, X-Files, and The Outer Limits. If the game has even half of the atmosphere from those classics, I can safely say that it will be in my top 5 of 2015. Oh yeah, the game is set to be released in 2015 on PC.
