AOL News slipped up a bit and accidentally posted the Tekken 7 announcement video a few hours too early. The game was presumably intended to be announced tonight at EVO 2014. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise, rejoice. As a rabid Tekken fan myself, my knees are weak, and I feel I must be dreaming. Fortunately, I am very much awake, and Tekken 7 is very much a thing.
The video has since been taken down, but the image of the logo was captured. Unfortunately, there is still no gameplay footage. All you need to know is that it’s happening, and it will be running on the Unreal Engine. In the video Katsuhiro Harada explained that the use of the Unreal Engine makes porting much easier for whatever console, although did not specify which exact consoles the latest entry in the fighting franchise will be featured on. It’s more than likely that it will be on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One though. We’ll be sure to link you to the full clip when it’s officially released later tonight and let you know as soon as more information is revealed on the game in the coming months.
For now, get hype. I finally have a good reason to get a PlayStation 4. Thank you, based Harada.
