In May, Simon Benson, Senior Development Manager for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, alluded to a possibility of Sony’s VR peripheral, codenamed Morpheus, working with the PlayStation Vita in some capacity. Now, another employee from SCEE has confirmed that this will definitely be the case.
Ian Bickerstaff is the Technical Director for the SCEE Immersive Technology Group. He has stated that the PlayStation Vita will function with Project Morpheus in a similar way to tablets and smartphones, making the immersive experience a more social one via select companion apps.
Further details regarding Project Morpheus, such as a price point or release date, were not given at this time. Hopefully we will know more sooner than later regarding when we can get our hands on this VR peripheral.
