Oculus Halts Dev Kit Shipments to China

Oculus has stopped shipments of their Oculus Rift DK2 development kits to China as of Friday, according to a report from Games in Asia.

In spite of the common nature of reselling products in China, Oculus has decided to fight the practice, as they claim that the development kits are just that, meant for developers, and that they shouldn’t be being resold to consumers. ¬†China has been taken off the Oculus preorder page, and some existing orders meant for developers in China have been cancelled.

It will be interesting to see how this choice to fight such customs in China will effect the overall development of the Oculus Rift and the overall time it will take to finally have a consumer ready product in any and all territories.
