There’s an entire cottage industry that has sprung up over the last few years in game journalism that has become incredibly lucrative. No, not unintentional racism and sexism based on a royally fucked system that keeps the status quo pretty much exclusively white people despite a lot of people’s best efforts, but rather comparisons between HD and SD.
In a world loaded with HD remakes and releases of franchises, an easy way of gaining views and attention is to slide two images together; one of the older edition of the game, one of the newer, and spew out some erroneous nonsense about the details and the resolution and the polygons or other shit like that. It sounds like I’m going to whine about the ease of which it is to gather views from something that simple and stupid whilst more longform content gets precisely nothing, but I’m not. People like to know how things have changed, and this is the easiest way of telling you.
However, this time, we don’t have to life a finger. Square Enix has released a trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX that actually does the comparison between the old and new in real time, allowing you to see the changes in motion during cinematics and gameplay. Thanks, Square Enix. Now we have nothing but gif lists, and pretty soon you’re going to take that from us too.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX comes out for PS3 on December 2nd.
