Microsoft Releases August Xbox One Update Details

The constantly evolving Xbox One will be getting another major update come August, and today Microsoft released details as to what exactly the new update entails.

  • The friends list will have a far larger presence on the home menu, with current activity, titles that all your friends are playing, and achievement leaderboards for the competitive types. The activity feed will be getting game clip sharing, along with a like and comment system.
  • Xbox Live purchases can now be made from mobile platforms via Xbox Smartglass and will download immediately.
  • A low battery notification will now be displayed on screen rather than with the shifting lights of the Xbox 360 controller. Speaking of notifications, they can now be totally turned off during video playback to avoid distractions.
  • And perhaps the biggest one; the Xbox One now supports 3D video playback.

The update will be out sometime next month, and will be out soon for those in the preview program.
