Lindsay Lohan, after expressing her outrage over the likeness late last year, has officially filed to sue Rockstar over a character she claims is based on her. The lawsuit claims that the character of Lacey Jonas from Grand Theft Auto V was based on her and that her likeness was then used without her permission.
“The portraits of the Plaintiff (Lohan) incorporated her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, Plaintiff’s clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses, jean shorts worn by the Plaintiff that were for sale to the public at least two years”
If the name Lacey Jonas doesn’t ring a bell, don’t worry. While the character herself was only a part of a side mission in the game, I guarantee you’ve seen her featured in the promotional art for GTA V. The character was modeled after model Shelby Welinder and her image was indeed used with permission complete with paycheck and a mention in the credits.
The Grand Theft Auto games are no stranger to parody, but is Lacey Jonas a little too similar to Lohan? Or is Jonas just a parody of the sterotypical train wreck Hollywood starlet and Lohan’s looking too far into things?
