In a recent interview Kingdom Hearts III‘s co-director Tai Yasue assures us that the game’s development is not affected by Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix‘s release.
That’s right ladies and gentlemen, we can all rest a little easier. Yasue states:
It’s moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn’t impede Kingdom Hearts III. I’m actually very excited about Kingdom Hearts III.”
He continues to emphasize that 2014 is the year of KH 2.5, like last year was the year of KH 1.5. This means we probably won’t be getting much more (if any) info or glimpses at the game since all the advertising manpower is being redirected to 2.5 ReMix.
“Making teasers and trailers really does require a lot of work, and we just wanted to get the development moving along quickly on Kingdom Hearts III, so this year we really focused on 2.5.”
Yeah, it sucks we won’t be getting anything else from 3, but it’s really nice to know the game is in high-gear. Yasue points out that the jump to the next-gen is fantastic but it does come at a cost.
“We’re moving from a totally different console to [a new] console. The technology has evolved; it’s very new and everyone is doing a lot of research. And look-wise, it looks amazing as well. We’ve shown you some of the trailers and teasers. There are a lot of Disney-themed attractions, so that’s exciting as well. It’s very exciting for me and I want to tell you more about it, but I really can’t at this moment.”
Let them work out the kinks for KH 3 while we tease ourselves with KH 2.5 this year. I’m sure by next year they’ll more for us (and hopefully a release date).
