Command & Conquer Fans Perform Server Transplant after Gamespy Kicked the Bucket

Fans of game preservation–and Command & Conquer, rejoice!

After Gamespy was taken off life support May 31st, many games lost the ability to be played online. The Revora Creative Network, based out of Switzerland, is a community of modders and artists who decided to reanimate the longstanding franchise’s online play.

After installing their free client, it essentially takes the place of the Gamespy servers as if nothing had changed, allowing the game to function as it previously had.

This is very cool, and gives hope to those of us who worry what will happen to our games when the original servers transcend this mortal coil. Check out their website, and if you’re a fan, maybe donate them a few bucks.
