With E3 ever closer, companies are lining up their titles for the show floor. And a new one, Lucky’s Tale, was announced yesterday. It’s being developed by Playful Corp in partnership with Oculus VR. Paul Bettner, co-creator of Words with Friends and CEO of Playful Corp, said in an statement announcing the game:
“Virtual reality — I mean truly accurate, comfortable virtual reality — is the most important thing to happen to interactive entertainment in decades. I know it sounds like exaggeration, but it’s impossible to explain what this is like to someone who hasn’t experienced it for themselves. Your brain is convinced that you are somewhere else, that you are in another world. I have worked my entire career to get to this moment, to create something like this.”
Lucky’s Tale is a platforming adventure game in third person perspective, an interesting choice for a virtual reality game. They’ll have a fully playable demo to show at E3, on the Oculus booth.
Playful Corp’s team comprises of both the core group of developers that worked on Words with Friends, and others of the …with Friends brand, and developers who’ve worked on games like Age of Empires, Halo Wars and Starcraft.
The Twinfinite team will be at E3 next week, so stay tuned for our coverage of the game show.
