Apparently it’s not always sunny in Philadelphia, especially if you’re being occupied by a brutal North Korean regime. Today Crytek officially announced Homefront: The Revolution, the sequel to THQ and Kaos Studios’ 2011 shooter Homefront. Along with the announcement, they were kind enough to release some screenshots into the wild and so far (visually) the game is looking pretty great!
While the first game had its fair share of problems, the sequel seems to be taking the first steps towards being something far more interesting and worthwhile. Philadelphia doesn’t get enough love in video games if you ask me, and it is a logical setting for a game centered on revolution.
One of the few things the first game did get right was how it created a plausible setting where Americans were the underdogs for a change. If they can craft a better story and prop everything up with gameplay that is more enjoyable than the original, then Crytek could be onto something here.
Homefront: The Revolution is on track for a 2015 launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (including Windows, Mac and Linux).
