Tarsier Studios, the developer behind LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and contributor to the original LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 on the PS3, announced that at the Nordic Game Conference that they were awarded 500,000 Danish kroner (roughly $91,736.50) in support from the Nordic Game Program for the concept of their new IP “Hunger” (working title).
They describe Hunger as:
a third-person 3D action adventure game with stealth and exploration elements. A nine-year old girl named Six is kidnapped from her home and taken to work in The Maw – a surreal underwater resort catering to the whims of the powerful elite. When an unexpected twist of fate offers her a chance at freedom, Six takes a journey through the bizarre and unpredictable world of The Maw, and catches a glimpse at the corrupt heart of modern happiness.
As of now, there is no word on the platform(s) it will be available on, but it is known that Tarsier did sign a first-party deal with Sony in 2010 on an unannounced project. A press release mentions that they are “working closely with Sony Computer Entertainment.” However, nowhere is it stated that this is specifically in relation to Hunger. One of the developers has mentioned that they are aiming to release this as a downloadable title for PS4, but that this is nothing official. It also is not to say that they are hoping to release Hunger only on PS4.
