A rather aristocratic-looking, mustachioed robot in a bowler cap fires his blunderbuss in your direction: you, Sir, are being hunted. That’s the premise of this open-world stealth/survival title, which I’ve had my eye on for a few years now.
I’m pleased to say that, as of May 1, Sir, You Are Being Hunted is no longer Early Access. Version 1.0 is available directly from developer Big Robot (via the Humble Store), and can also be purchased from Steam, GOG.com, and GamersGate. Although normally $20, if you hurry you can get it for 15% off. This promotional deal ends May 8.
So what is Sir, You Are Being Hunted? Imagine The Most Dangerous Game (am I the only one who had to read that in high school?) meets steampunk, with just the right dose of British humo(u)r. You can check out the launch trailer for the self-described “first-person tweedpunk robo-horror” above!
Whether wandering the wet and dreary moors or taking refuge in the abandoned ruins of a castle, the setting is quintisentially British. And the best part is it’s all procedurally generated, thanks to “The British Countryside Generator,” so every experience will be different!
As you explore the beautiful landscapes, you must evade the posh gentleman-robots who hunt humans for sport. The choice is yours: do you flee and hide or stand and fight? Either way, make sure you have an ample supply of tea and biscuits.
No word yet on when multiplayer will be available, but needless to say, I’m thrilled at the prospect of hunting and being hunted by my friends.
