While the tentatively titled Hyrule Warriors has received a solid release date for August 14th in Japan, the Legend of Zelda/Dynasty Warriors hybrid game has received little information on its future releases overseas. Fortunately, however, Japanese site Famitsu has unveiled a few screenshots of the latest title to get the world a better insight into what’s in store.
Just as well, the latest issue of Famitsu has revealed a host of information on the game. It has been confirmed that the game’s plot will indeed feature the rescue of the titular Princess Zelda, of course. But, as a Dynasty Warriors-type entry, you can most assuredly expect that Zelda will still be playable in any number of incarnations just as well. In the same vein, the only other confirmed playable character at the moment is the Sheikah badass Impa, as she appears in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Hyrule Warriors won’t just be receiving familiar characters though as new faces join the cast. The latest screenshots give a closer look at several new characters. The woman is presumed to be Shia, the confirmed villainess of the game, complete with more cleavage than she knows what to do with. The red guy is named Varuga, and the poe-soul looking creature is named Wizuro. Of course, these names are subject to change in localization, but it’s still interesting to note.
Finally, one particular screenshot shows a nice look Link in combat and one major thing I noticed were the revamped visuals since the game was first announced. Specifically, Link’s character model is looking much nicer and more detailed under some new lighting effects, which is always a treat. Aside from all this, we’ll be sure to update you with more information on the upcoming Hyrule Warriors as it gets closer to release, exclusively for Nintendo Wii U later this year.
