With E3 just around the corner, excitement is starting to spread, and no one is safe from circulating leaks and rampaging hype trains. The latest tantalizing industry tease comes from Microsoft’s new video, which features the Xbox One’s hardware and software design. Around 0:50 in the video above, the user Pit Bear is playing what seems to be an unannounced Halo 5.
Now, before we all jump the gun, it is possible that this was a placeholder or even a mishap on Microsoft’s end. Considering “Haven” is a Halo 4 map, and “Infinity Slayer” is a Halo 4 game mode, this “leak” may not hold water (ah, puns..).
However, with an E3 conference inbound, it’s not crazy for companies to subtly build hype for their upcoming announcements. It very well could be Microsoft is purposefully, and successfully, name dropping to spark renewed interest in a new Halo title.
While the next Halo entry may not necessarily include the Haven map and Infinity Slayer game mode, seeing “Halo 5” in an official video indicates Microsoft may be planting hype seeds for an important announcement. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates.
