As per the traditional arcade game, Woah Dave! ensures that you will die. From Gaijin Games, Woah Dave! is essentially a small indie title that serves to test your limits as your try to survive as long as you can in a small arena, avoiding and destroying 8-bit enemies, similar to Super Crate Box, all the while achieving the highest score you can.
You play as Dave, I presume, and eggs appear at various points on the stage. The only problem is that these eggs will hatch within certain amount of time, and you don’t want to be near them when they do. You can, however, pick up the egg or a weapon in the shape of a skull which you can throw to kill other enemies running up and down the map.
As in the classic Mario Bros., enemies that are left untouched come back even faster and more elusive as time goes on, and donning a dashing new color. The game itself is charming enough and the controls felt very responsive, which is especially important for a game that requires such quick reflexes and when one hit means game over. It may be relatively simple, but it’s still plenty of fun, especially since it gets more and more frantic as the game progresses.
There’s no definite release window just yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know once more information on Woah Dave! surfaces. For now, it’s charming and challenging, and I can’t wait to see how it grows and shapes up along the way to its release date. Woah Dave! will be coming to iOS, Android, Steam, and Ouya. It may end up released for other platforms as well, but nothing has been confirmed. We’ll be sure to let you know, though.
