Flippfly Games had some new versions of their indie arcade hit, Race the Sun, to show off at PAX East. Notably a new version of the game that uses the Oculus Rift and another heading to the PS Vita soon.
The Oculus Rift version of Race the Sun was pretty cool, offering up a full panoramic view of the game while playing. It didn’t necessarily put players behind the tip of the controlled plane, but it really helped to push the stark, white, and serene nature of it. Flippfly pointed out that this version sported a new feature that should be heading to PC versions soon where players can charge through randomized portals in stages to be warped to original player made stages from the Steam Workshop.
The Vita version is looking pretty good, too, despite what they showed us simply being an early build. A handheld like that is the perfect platform for Race the Sun due to its addictive pick-up-and-play nature. When asked if this Playstation build meant that a Project Morpheus version was on the way, Flippfly noted that while it’s something they’re definitely interested in, there’s nothing officially planned just yet.
The original PC version of Race the Sun is available on PC.
