This is a bit of interesting news from the rumor mills. Disney’s D23 website had announced Disney Infinity 2.0 for an August release. I say had, because the site has since removed this announcement from their webpage. Thankfully, Google Cache never forgets and we can see the announcement in full below:
“Disney Infinity 2.0 is coming in August 2014, and a teaser trailer can be viewed at Marvel.com. The teaser promises such Marvel-ous additions to the game as familiar Marvel characters, objects, and vehicles—the possibilities are infinite. For a different gaming experience, Disney Interactive has just launched Disney Solitaire exclusively for Windows devices. The game is available in the Windows Store for $4.99 and features 120 levels of Disney-themed solitaire challenges.”
For those that haven’t heard of the Disney Infinity brand, it is a means of bridging toys with computers by making them come to life. You essentially purchase a package of characters like Phineas and Perry the Platypus and they then enter an online toybox for them to roam around and play in. You can take the software for a test drive by heading to the Disney Infinity website.
Since the Heroclix line never went into the video game space, this could be a great new way to interact with your plastic versions of your favorite toys. If this turns out to be true, this could go a long way to separating Disney from Activision’s Skylanders franchise.
