UPDATE: Bandai Namco has confirmed to us that this trailer is indeed a fake. A horrendous, awful fake. Bandai, I take back all those awful things I said. You get some points, and God loves you again.
SoulCalibur is a fighting game series with a long and storied legacy, one that is near and dear to my heart. It was the fighting game series I grew up on, the first one I can say that I got something closely resembling good at. I would walk over my friends day in day out in SoulCalibur II, and I would not trade my love for the series for anything. Ever.
Chances are, the new game of the series, SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul, will not vanquish that love. It has a teaser trailer that came out today, but we don’t care about that. Instead, you should witness the current contender for worst game trailer of all time, which is for its “Adventure Mode,” and just might kill your love for more than SoulCalibur. It might just kill your love for life itself. Go watch it above then come back.
I mean, seriously, what the fuck is that? What did I just see? From the cheap text overlay at the beginning, to the hilarious voiceover, to the nonsensical screens of something that I imagine I supposed to be gameplay, I have learned exactly nothing from this one-minute and thirty-three seconds of my life now taken by Bandai Namco.
To Namco Bandai: At no point in your trailer did you posit anything resembling actual information. Everyone who has watched this is now dumber because of it. We award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul comes out sometime this year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
