New Killzone Mercenary Botzone DLC Releases Today

A new downloadable content pack for PlayStation Vita shooter Killzone Mercenary will allow players to team up with and battle against AI bots in all of its multiplayer maps. The Botzone Solider Training Pack will be priced at $2.49/£2.49 and will be released later today with Sony’s weekly Playstation Store update. A post by Guerrilla Cambridge technical director Matt Porter on the U.S. PlayStation Blog describes what Killzone Mercenary fans can expect:

Killzone Mercenary Botzone brings new skills to the series’ traditionally strong AI bot experience: Vanguard usage, zip line navigation, interrogations, rescues, capsule hacking, and valour card collection are all behaviors unique to the game and our AI is going to challenge you with all of them. Not only that, but our cunning bots will also be using many of the game’s diverse loadouts to stop you in your tracks.

And it doesn’t stop there; you’ll have the chance to collect some of those harder-to-obtain multiplayer trophies in an offline arena — provided your skills are up to the challenge, of course!

While it’s a bit disappointing that it won’t be free, it is nice that Guerrilla Cambridge is future proofing the game for those that pay up at least. Having a bot option means that when the game’s multiplayer community eventually dies out, there won’t be a useless  mode and unobtainable trophies for current and future owners of the game.

If you’re interested in picking the Botzone Soldier Training Pack, the PlayStation Store usually updates sometime around the late afternoon EST.

Update: The Botzone Soldier Training Pack has been delayed a few hours and according to the PlayStation Blog should be available at 8PM PST. If it gets pushed back again we will update this post.
