It’s hard to pick just one favorite weapon from Fallout 3. Sometimes I’m all about bolt-action rifles, like Ol’ Painless (the unique .32 hunting rifle) or Lincoln’s repeater (technically lever-action, but whatever, close enough).
Other times I like to use the scoped .44 magnum because it’s so damn versatile. At close range, it’s a high-powered revolver, yet is also excellent for sniping due to its scope, relative lack of recoil, and high rate of fire.
But the combat shotgun, now that’s a firearm I always keep in my inventory. It’s been a constant in all my playthroughs. I might stash other weapons in Megaton/Tenpenny Tower, but I never leave home without my trusty combat shotgun.
With devastating close-range damage and a relatively large drum magazine, it’s the best type of shotgun in the game. And it looks pretty badass, too.
No doubt that’s why Jake, a.k.a. William Jakespeare, decided to make the combat shotgun in one of his latest D.I.Y. videos. And holy shit does the finished prop look badass. I think it’s one of his finest builds yet!
